Les obres de la C-66 treuen al descobert una casa forta medieval a Sant Ferriol i dos esquelets d’individus joves

Les obres de millora de la C-66 han permès localitzar les restes d’una casa forta medieval al veïnat de Fares de Sant Ferriol (Garrotxa) d’entre el segle IX i el XIII. La seva localització era desconeguda fins ara si bé hi havia documentació de l’època d’un indret on es cobraven tributs per anar de Besalú a Banyoles. “És un edifici de molta entitat”, remarca Cristina Belmonte, coordinadora de l’excavació. Els sondejos indiquen que l’edifici fa 500 m2 si bé la part de la carretera en obres que s’ha hagut de desviar afecta una zona annexa. En aquest punt també han aparegut dos esquelets d’individus joves que caldrà estudiar. A Serinyà, les mateixes obres a la carreta han tret a la llum tres sitges ibèriques i ceràmiques del segle I i III a.C.
Descoberta important al veïnat de Fares de Sant Ferriol (Garrotxa) amb la localització de les restes d’una casa forta medieval durant les obres de millora de la C-66. Els treballs arqueològics de prevenció s’han centrat en la zona afectada per la carretera, un tram del qual s’ha hagut de desviar per no afectar les restes. S’ha fet una primera delimitació i s’ha constatat que les estructures estan en “força bon estat” i que és un edifici “de molta entitat”.

Segons Cristina Belmonte, arqueòloga de l’empresa IPAT Serveis Culturals, l’edifici fa uns 500 m2 i és de planta quadrada. “La localització és un element important” ja que fins ara havia quedat ocult per la vegetació. Segons la coordinadora, es veia que hi havia un turó petit a la zona però amb la neteja i retirada de terres han aparegut parets de fins a 2 m d’alt i una amplada d’entre 50 i 60 cm, “murs de molta entitat lligats amb morter de calç”.

La zona afectada per la carretera, però, són unes estructures annexes a l’edifici on també han aparegut tres sitges i ceràmiques que daten entre els segles IX i XIII. Fa una setmana, a més, els va sorprendre un espai d’enterrament amb dos esquelets d’individus joves que s’estudiaran més a fons per conèixer l’època i les possibles causes de mort. Els cossos han aparegut al costat de la casa forta i molt lluny de la zona del cementiri de l’església de Santa Maria de Fares que també queda a tocar de la carretera.
Basant-se en la documentació de l’època, els arqueòlegs creuen que es tractaria d’una casa forta on es cobraven tributs per anar de Besalú a Banyoles. En algun document també es parla d’un edifici amb dues torres però aquesta és una dada que no s’ha pogut confirmar amb aquesta primera prospecció. Una recerca que des de l’Ajuntament de Sant Ferriol creuen que s’haurà de fer més endavant i amb el suport de les administracions perquè són un municipi petit. “Un cop identificat tot, es tornarà a tapar a l’espera de poder fer més excavacions i mirar de restaurar-la a llarg termini”, ha explicat l’alcalde, Albert Fàbrega.
A la zona també hi ha un rentador del segle XIX-XX on encara hi ha aigua que també es conservarà.

Sitges ibèriques a Serinyà

Uns quilòmetres més enllà, ja al municipi de Serinyà (Pla de l’Estany), les obres de la C-66 han tret a la llum un conjunt de sitges ibèriques. De moment n’han aparegut tres i no es descarta que en surtin més. “És un camp de sitges on es guardava el gra”, detalla la responsable dels treballs i arqueòloga d’IPAT Serveis Culturals, Roser Arcos. Al seu interior s’han recuperat ceràmiques dels segle III i I a.C, que van des de finals de l’època ibera fins als inicis de la romanització a la península. S’han trobat restes d’àmfores, fragments d’utensilis de cuina i de vaixella de parets fines. Un cop les sitges ja no s’utilitzaven per guardar-hi cereals, servien també per llençar-hi material que fins avui s’ha preservat i que permet datar les restes arqueològiques.
Els treballs arqueològics s’allargaran encara una o dues setmanes.
