Les obres a la Seu Vella revelen traces que van guiar arquitectes i picapedrers per construir el claustre al segle XIII

Les obres de restauració de la Seu Vella han posat al descobert unes traces a les pedres de la teulada, que van servir de guia a arquitectes i picapedrers per a la construcció de la decoració dels finestrals del claustre romànic del monument. Aquestes marques gravades damunt la pedra són de les més antigues d’Europa i permeten descobrir el disseny dels finestrals. Van ser descobertes en restituir una part de la plataforma de la teulada del claustre i han estat qualificades de “molt importants” pels arqueòlegs i historiadors.

A les traces es pot apreciar el disseny que després es plasmaria en la construcció dels finestrals del Claustre, amb els dibuixos dels pètals i el punt d’ancoratge del compàs per donar forma. Des de la Paeria expliquen que són gairebé úniques i equiparables a les de les catedrals de York i de Narbona. L’alcalde accidental, Toni Postius, ha visitat aquest migdia les obres i ha explicat la importància de la troballa perquè aporta més valor afegit al patrimoni de la ciutat.

La descoberta d’aquestes traces fa que la Paeria treballi amb l’objectiu de poder consolidar aquesta troballa, per la qual cosa, expliquen, buscaran nou finançament que permeti excavar un nou tros de la teulada, segons ha explicat Postius.

Els treballs de restauració de la Seu Vella se centren en tres fases: la Porta dels Apòstols, amb la finalitat d’aturar-ne els processos de degradació a més d’intervenir en el remat de la façana i millorar la coberta; els pisos interiors i el templet del campanar, i inclouen una primera fase de restauració i sanejament de les cobertes del claustre, per millorar-ne la seva impermeabilització, així com l’evacuació correcta de les aigües i l’alleugeriment de càrregues en els nervis de les voltes. En aquesta darrera actuació és on ha aparegut la descoberta.
