L’Ajuntament de Calafell ha aprovat el finançament per tancar un acord amb la Cooperativa Agrícola per usar part de les seves instal·lacions per obrir un equipament públic. El consistori llogarà 1.700 metres quadrats per fer un centre cívic i un centre d’interpretació del món agrari, en una operació que garanteix la viabilitat econòmica de la Cooperativa. Segons l’Ajuntament, “les negociacions estan molt avançades” i es preveu acordar un lloguer amb opció de compra per un període d’anys encara pendent de concretar. Per ara, el ple municipal ha acordat destinar 252.744 euros a iniciar l’operació. Al seu torn, la previsió és que la Cooperativa es quedi una part de l’actual agrobotiga i la zona d’operacions on es gestionen les collites.
