La biòloga Laia Calaf, nova directora del Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici

La biòloga Laia Calaf Viñolas és la nova directora del Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici. Calaf pren el relleu en el càrrec a Mercè Aniz, qui havia dirigit el Parc Nacional des del 1990. Calaf és doctora europea en biologia per la Universitat de Barcelona i té un mestratge en alta funció directiva per l’Escola d’Administració Pública de Catalunya. Ha treballat en l’àmbit de diversos parcs, com el Parc Natural Posets-Maladeta (Aragó) o el mateix Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici on també ha exercit de guia interpretadora. També ha estat investigadora a la Fundació Centre d’Estudis Ambientals de la Mediterrània en diversos projectes europeus de restauració forestal i prevenció d’incendis.

El Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici és l’únic parc nacional que hi ha a Catalunya. Té 40.852 hectàrees dividides en 14.119 ha de parc nacional estricte, 26.733 de zona perifèrica de protecció i inclou 10 municipis, de quatre comarques, pertanyents a la seva àrea d’influència.
