L’IRTA i Borges impulsaran la recerca al sector agroalimentari

L’IRTA i el grup Borges impulsaran, conjuntament, la recerca al sector agroalimentari. Ambdues organitzacions han tancat un conveni de col·laboració per treballar plegades en diferents àmbits d’actuació d’interès comú, com ho són la presentació de propostes de projectes de recerca conjunts, de serveis o desenvolupaments tecnològics o la transferència i la formació.

Malgrat que ja fa temps que el grup Borges i l’IRTA col·laboren de manera puntual, aquest conveni estableix les bases per “enfortir la col·laboració estratègica”, segons ha assenyalat el director general de l’IRTA, Josep Usall. Per la seva banda, Josep Pont, conseller delegat de Borges, ha volgut destacar que la seva intenció és “donar un pas més a l’hora de potenciar la nostra relació en l’àmbit de l’R+D+i tant a escala agrícola, com industrial, com de desenvolupament de nous productes de qualitat, saludables i saborosos de la cuina i estil de vida mediterranis”.

Borges és la companyia líder mundial en el mercat global de l’alimentació saludable. Actualment, compta amb tres línies de negoci: Borges Agricultural & Industrial Nuts, Borges Agricultural & Industrial Edible Oils i Borges Branded Foods. Ha tancat el 2018 amb una facturació de 820 milions d’euros i comercialitza els seus productes a 116 països dels cinc continents.

Per la seva part, l’IRTA centra la seva activitat en l’R+D+i agroalimentària en els àmbits de la producció vegetal, la producció animal, les indústries alimentàries, el medi ambient, el canvi global i l’economia agroalimentària.
