Les dones són fonamentals per la pervivència del sector primari i les àrees rurals, malgrat que la seva feina sovint és invisibilitzada. Per posar-hi remei, des del Ministeri d’Agricultura es convoquen els Premis a l’Excel·lència i la Innovació de les Dones Rurals que aquest any arriben a la seva desena edició. Els guardons tenen l’objectiu de subratllar l’excepcional feina, projectes i trajectòria d’algunes de les professionals del sector arreu de l’Estat espanyol. D’aquesta manera, es vol contribuir al reconeixement de les iniciatives originals i innovadores relacionades amb les activitats agràries, pesqueres, aqüícoles i complementàries, a més d’aquelles que contribueixin a la diversificació de l’activitat econòmica que impulsin l’emprenedoria, les activitats o les actuacions que reconeguin la seva labor al medi rural.

Com a novetat, enguany el premi s’amplia fins a les zones costaneres, incloent, per primera vegada, les iniciatives relacionades amb la pesca. A més, suma un segon i tercer premi a cada categoria, dotats, respectivament, de 12.000 i 7.500 euros. El primer premi és de 18.000 euros. Pel que fa a les categories, s’entregaran dos premis a la innovació i l’excel·lència, el primer per les activitats agràries i el segon per les activitats pesqueres i aqüícoles; un altre a la diversificació de les activitats econòmiques i, finalment, un a la comunicació. A més, s’entrega un reconeixement especial a la trajectòria, de caràcter honorífic i sense dotació econòmica.
