La Càtedra AgroBank premia l’ús eficient de l’aigua

Una tesi sobre l’ús eficient de l’aigua, guanyadora de la Càtedra AgroBank Qualitat i Innovació de la Universitat de Lleida. El jurat ha triat la tesi de Rafael González, investigador de la Universidad de Córdoba (UCO), titulada Optimització de la gestió de xarxes de reg a pressió a diferents escales mitjançant Intel·ligència Artificial, com a guanyadora de la tercera edició del guardó. El premi, dotat de 3.000 euros, té l’objectiu de premiar la recerca d’excel·lència en el sector agroalimentari.

Així, el treball de González ha estat destacat d’un total de 32 estudis provinents de 17 universitats de tot el territori espanyol. Concretament, la tesi planteja solucions basades en les noves tecnologies, Big Data i Intel·ligència Artificial (IA), per integrar-les en la gestió de les comunitats de regants. Els resultats obtinguts mostren que es pot aconseguir un estalvi potencial d’energia d’un 20 i 27% en les comunitats quan s’apliquen tècniques avançades de sectorització i de control de punts crítics a la xarxa de distribució d’aigua. De fet, els models predictius que ha desenvolupat González permeten predir tant el consum diari d’aigua d’una comunitat de regants (amb un error inferior al 12%), com reproduir a curt termini el comportament de cada agricultor en la programació dels regs, amb un error inferior al 10% si es determina la quantitat d’aigua aplicada per reg.

Segons Antonio J. Ramos, director de la Càtedra AgroBank-UdL, els plans d’actuació per reduir l’ús de l’aigua en regadiu han incrementat exponencialment la demanda d’energia i els costos de l’aigua, pel que “la gestió eficient dels recursos hídrics és cada vegada més important”. “La predicció de la demanda de reg amb dies d’antelació i amb alta precisió que gràcies a les noves tecnologies proporciona aquesta tesi, facilita la contractació en temps real de l’energia, la gestió òptima de les estacions de bombament, l’organització del personal de la comunitat de regants, la compra de materials, la prevenció d’avaries, etc., per minimitzar costos i maximitzar el benefici obtingut pels agricultors, a més dels avantatges per al medi ambient”, ha explicat.

La Càtedra AgroBank Qualitat i Innovació en el sector agroalimentari de la UdL, creada el 2016, cerca el reconeixement de la recerca d’excel·lència en l’àmbit agroalimentari, la transferència de coneixement científic i tècnic entre investigadors, professionals del sector i clients de l’entitat financera, i impulsar la qualitat i innovació en l’àmbit agroalimentari. AgroBank, la línia de negoci d’AgroBank especialitzada en els sectors agrari i agroalimentari, finança aquesta Càtedra de la Universitat de Lleida (UdL), que obrirà a la tardor el termini per presentar candidatures a la quarta edició d’aquest guardó per a tesis doctorals.
