La calor i la manca de precipitacions que augmentin els cabals del Delta han jugat una mala passada als pescadors. Segons dades de la Confraria de Pescadors de Deltebre, el 2019 les captures d’angules han caigut a la meitat respecte a l’any passat. Concretament, mentre que el 2018 es van registrar 1.100 quilos pescats, enguany no s’ha arribat als 600. En aquest sentit, tot i que, tradicionalment és una pesca amb alts i baixos en anys alternatius, el secretari de la Confraria, Pascual Chacón, ha apuntat que les condicions climàtiques benèvoles d’aquest hivern haurien influït decisivament en aquesta caiguda. “El canvi climàtic ens afecta“, ha declarat

“La poca pesca que hem tingut ha estat els tres dies que ha fet mal temps”, ha explicat Chacón, ja que els cabals fluvials abundants i els temporals de llevant són els reclams fonamentals per atreure l’angula a remuntar el riu. “Tothom està notant un canvi climàtic important. Ens afecta: estàvem acostumats que de novembre a desembre teníem vents de dalt, llevantades, fred i enguany no ha estat així. No hi ha hagut desgel i no ha baixat aigua”, ha afegit, remarcant que la pesca necessita unes condicions climàtiques concretes.

Durant els últims dies hàbils de març, les captures totals a tot el Delta han estat de només uns quatre quilos d’angula. En general, calcula Chacón, els prop de 300 pescadors autoritzats a tot el delta de l’Ebre han capturat de mitjana uns 2,5 quilos cadascun. En canvi, aquestes baixes quantitats no han suposat un increment de preus. “No puja. La Unió Europea està dins del CITES –el conveni que regula el comerç internacional d’espècies amenaçades- i no es permet l’exportació: només a l’interior d’Europa. Va a l’engreix en bona part i no al consumidor final”, certifica.

Actualment, el preu de les angules se situa entre els 200 i els 300 euros el quilo. Únicament durant el període que va entre novembre i finals de desembre, davant l’expectativa de l’increment de consum nadalenc, aquestes xifres repunten cap a la part superior. “Tenim menys pesquera però si hagués anat econòmicament millor, compensaria”, tanca. Amb tot, Chacón precisa que una major disponibilitat d’angules atreu més els compradors, perquè facilita i abarateix el seu transport.
