Alliberats a la natura 235 tritons del Montseny

Personal tècnic del projecte Life Trió Montseny ha alliberat aquesta primavera fins a 235 exemplars de tritons del Montseny en torrents del Parc Natural–Reserva de la Biosfera del Montseny. L’objectiu és continuar incrementant l’àrea de distribució d’aquesta espècie endèmica del massís, catalogada en perill crític. S’han alliberat 107 individus de la varietat occidental i 128 de l’oriental, en 4 torrents de diversos sectors de l’espai. Aquests exemplars provenen del programa de cria en captivitat que es du a terme als centres de fauna de Torreferrussa i Pont de Suert de la Generalitat, i al Zoo de Barcelona. Gràcies al programa, l’espècie s’ha multiplicat en els últims anys i actualment es poden arribar a produir unes 500 larves anuals.
L’objectiu del programa, en què també participa el Zoo de Chester, és mantenir un reservori genètic als centres per garantir el futur de l’espècie davant la critica situació a la natura de les poblacions originals. De l’altra, es vol augmentar la seva àrea de distribució amb l’alliberament d’exemplars en nous torrents.

És el segon alliberament en el marc del projecte Life Tritó Montseny, després del que es va efectuar el 2019. En total, des del 2010 s’han deixat anar més d’un miler d’exemplars en sis torrents diferents.

Al sector occidental, aquest alliberament ha permès reforçar la població d’un torrent on es van alliberar exemplars per primer cop l’any passat, amb bons resultats de supervivència. A més, en un altre torrent d’aquest sector, s’ha reforçat la primera població que es va crear a partir dels exemplars nascuts a Torreferrussa entre el 2010 i el 2014. Aquí, s’ha assolit la consolidació de la població amb una bona supervivència i la seva reproducció.

Al sector oriental s’han alliberat exemplars en dos torrents molt propers. En un d’ells ja s’havien alliberat larves el 2015, i s’espera que amb futurs alliberaments aquestes dues poblacions es puguin arribar a connectar entre elles formant-ne una d’única.

El seguiment de la població sobre el terreny ha permès constatar la supervivència de les larves alliberades el 2015 en un altre torrent. Els responsables han apuntat que això confirma la bona adaptació a les condicions dels torrents dels exemplars independentment de la seva etapa, tant si s’alliberen de subadults com de larves.

Actualment, el principal punt feble en la conservació de l’espècie i l’increment de la seva distribució és la qualitat dels torrents potencials. Per això, el projecte inclou la millora dels hàbitats dels diferents torrents i actuacions de conservació i restauració.
