Els Agents Rurals podran anar armats a partir de 2019. Així ho ha anunciat la consellera d’Agricultura, Teresa Jordà, durant una visita a la seu del cos al recinte de Torreferrussa. Segons ha explicat la consellera, el nou reglament d’armes, que ha sortit a exposició pública avui, quedarà aprovat el tercer trimestre de 2019. La mesura s’emmarca en el nou Pla estratègic 2019-2024, el qual també permetrà crear 300 noves places, renovar el parc de vehicles i embarcacions i consolidar la renovació tecnològica dels Agents Rurals.

El director general del cos d’Agents Rurals, Marc Costa, ha detallat que el que s’està fent és desplegar una disposició addicional que ja es contempla en la pròpia llei del cos. “Un cop tinguem el reglament determinarem quines funcions requereixen l’ús d’armes, però està previst que tots els membres desenvolupin totes les tasques, per tant tots haurien d’estar degudament formats i habilitats per poder-ne portar”, apunta.

300 nous agents en cinc anys

El nou pla permetrà potenciar el cos i adaptar-lo a les necessitats i reptes actuals, dimensionar la plantilla, desplegar les categories professionals i reforçar l’estructura per consolidar i potenciar-ne l’operativitat. Entre les mesures que s’implementaran en els pròxims cinc anys, destaca la creació de 300 places noves d’efectius, les cinquanta primeres aquest any.

També contempla regularitzar la situació d’una trentena d’interins i incrementar en 50 places de personal tècnic i administratiu, així com la implantació de noves tecnologies com ara els drons o les tauletes i la renovació del parc de vehicles i d’embarcacions disponibles
