La DO Pla de Bages recupera una desena de varietats de vinya per posar en valor els seus vins

El primer vi fet a partir de vinyes recuperades de la DO Pla de Bages

Fa 150 anys el Bages estava cobert de vinya. Amb 27.000 hectàrees, era la comarca amb més vinya de tot el país, però la fil·loxera va fer perdre part d’aquest patrimoni. Ara, un projecte únic i singular a Catalunya ha recuperat una desena de varietats que s’han plantat en una finca de la Torre Lluvià. “L’objectiu és treure de l’oblit aquest patrimoni perquè doni oportunitats al territori”, ha dit el president de la DO Pla de Bages, Joan Soler. Algunes varietats són autòctones i n’hi ha dues, el Turbat i la Malvasia Rosa, que no s’han trobat enlloc més. La vinya es va plantar al 2018 i aquest any s’ha fet la primera verema. S’han collit prop de 3 tones de raïm, les primeres d’un projecte que vol donar singularitat als vins del Bages.

En una vinya de Sant Salvador de Guardiola van trobar tres ceps de negrelló i el mateix va passar en una vinya de Sant Benet de Bages, on van localitzar tres ceps més de muscat d’Istanbul. I així fins a una desena de varietats que s’han anat trobant “escampades”, i que l’any 2018 es van decidir plantar en un terreny de 3 hectàrees de la Torre Lluvià, a Manresa. Un camp experimental que aquest 2022 ha donat els primers fruits. En total, s’han collit prop de 3 tones de raïm, que serviran per estudiar i per posar més en valor els vins del Bages.

 

L’objectiu a llarg termini, segons explica el president de la DO Pla de Bages, Joan Soler, és “recuperar la identitat i la memòria”. “El futur serà inevitablement divers. Totes aquestes varietats formaran part del futur, però són les generacions futures, gràcies a la feina que estem fent ara, les qui podran decidir”, ha subratllat.

La sequera afecta la primera verema

L’extrema sequera d’aquest any ha afectat directament la primera verema del projecte. “Com que la planta jove no té una arrel tan formada, no pot anar tan al fons per anar a buscar l’aigua”, ha explicat Soler. Tot i això, han collit una mitjana d’entre 500 i 600 kilograms de raïm per varietat, que permetran obtenir els primers resultats i engegar un procés “d’arqueologia sensorial”.
