Els vins catalans es promocionen a Brooklyn amb un tast de vins organitzat per Prodeca

El sommelier Lucas Payà impartint una cata de vins catalans a Nova York

Sota el pont de Manhattan, a Brooklyn, cuiners, periodistes, influencers i distribuïdors nord-americans han tastat aquest dimarts al vespre una selecció de sis vins de finca catalans. “Són molt particulars, s’han de donar a conèixer”, diu Lucas Payà, l’exsommelier en cap del restaurant ‘El Bulli’. Organitzat per l’empresa pública Prodeca, el tast de vins ‘Catalonia where food is culture’ ha anat acompanyat de productes gastronòmics catalans com fuet, pa amb tomàquet o oli d’oliva. Aprofitant la seva assistència a la Setmana del Clima de Nova York, el president de la Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, ha conclòs l’acte amb un discurs per destacar Catalunya com un “clúster referent” en productes gastronòmics i vins de qualitat.

“El vi representa la cultura catalana, una cultura que és la nostra forma de vida”, ha reivindicat Aragonès per promoure aquest sector i les seves exportacions al mercat estatunidenc. Amb la consellera d’Acció Climàtica, Alimentació i Agenda Rural, Teresa Jordà, el cap del Govern ha convidat els presents a fer un “tast” de Catalunya provant els productes catalans.

“Creiem que valoraran la qualitat d’aquests vins tan especials”, espera Payà. El sommelier explica que han triat els vins de finca per aquest tast “pensant en la distribució als Estats Units” pel seu segell de qualitat, un projecte que veu “preciós i amb molt futur”: “Si agafa cos, podem arribar a tenir una col·lecció de vins i treure pit pel món”. Els assistents han tastat sis vins de finca, la majoria d’ells del Priorat, la denominació d’origen que més en té.

Actualment, Catalunya compta amb 12 vins de finca i a Nova York se n’han pogut tastar sis: Coma Blanca i Clos Fontà del Celler Mas d’en Gil (DOQ Priorat), Edetària negre, del Celler Edetària (DO Terra alta), Teixar, del Celler Vinyes Domènech (DO Montsant), Vi de Finca Mogador de Clos Mogador (DOQ Priorat) i Mas de la Rosa, del Celler Vall Lach (DOQ Priorat).

 

L’acte també ha comptat amb el crític gastronòmic Colman Andrews, que ha estat l’encarregat d’abordar el paper de la cuina catalana i les seves implicacions en la revolució gastronòmica d’aquest segle. “Catalunya és la Califòrnia dels Estats Units”, opina Andrews.

Nova York, un bon mercat

Els vins que han tastat els americans aquest vespre són força exclusius, només se’n fan entre 1.500 i 3.000 ampolles, remarca Payà. “No n’hi ha per a tothom”, diu. Per això, a Nova York aquest tipus de vins es poden vendre per més de 150 dòlars l’ampolla a les botigues especialitzades i fins a 500 dòlars en un restaurant.

“Fa temps que tenen una distribució al mercat nord-americà, sobretot a Nova York”, una ciutat amb un alt poder adquisitiu, subratlla aquest sommelier ara resident als EUA. De totes maneres, Payà defensa que es pot ampliar l’exportació amb actes com els de Prodeca per acostumar el paladar dels estatunidencs als vins catalans: “Tenim la millor audiència”.
