L’Escola de Pastors i Pastores de Catalunya comença un nou curs aquest 24 de Gener

L’Escola de Pastors i Pastores de Catalunya començarà el nou curs el dilluns 24 de gener. Enguany obrirà les portes amb 17 alumnes i ho farà destinant una setmana temàtica per aquelles persones que volen treballar de pastor de muntanya. Aquesta serà la catorzena edició de l’escola i durant aquest temps ha format a 217 persones. La mitjana d’edat dels alumnes és de 30 anys i edició rere edició el percentatge de dones que fan el curs va en augment. Pel que fa a la procedència dels alumnes, gairebé la totalitat no venen de família de pagès. Fins a l’any 2020, més d’un 60% de les persones que han fet la formació es dediquen al sector primari.

Pastor de muntanya

La feina del pastor de muntanya és aquella que es fa en època estival, quan tots els ramats s’agrupen i pugen a muntanya per passar-hi l’estiu. Mentre els pagesos són a les valls fent herba per a l’hivern, a muntanya els animals peixen i els guarda un pastor de muntanya. Aquest sistema és imprescindible per al manteniment de les explotacions del Pirineu, però també representa un llegat cultural que no podem perdre i una manera de mantenir territori i biodiversitat.

 

Per això, des de l’Escola s’han volgut transmetre coneixements necessaris per desenvolupar aquesta activitat: meteorologia, orientació, cicle de paràsits, gossos d’atura i gossos de protecció i altres matèries que milloraran la preparació de l’alumnat que vulgui fer aquesta feina ancestral, tanmateix també a la resta, ja que són continguts rellevants per a la vida a la intempèrie.

 

Així doncs, amb les dues setmanes de pastura específica, silvopastura i muntanya, la formació passa a ser de sis mesos i mig. Dos i mig de teoria i quatre de pràctiques.

Explotacions d’arreu del país fan el paper de tutors

Participen a l’Escola de Pastors nombroses explotacions de tot el país que fan el paper de tutors, incloent-hi les pastures de muntanya. El model d’explotació que acull l’alumnat mira de respondre al màxim a un model extensiu, de producció tradicional o ecològica, de gestió familiar i on s’arribi a fer una transformació i venda directa del producte.
