Col·lectiu Eixarcolant guanya l’accèssit de 6.000€ als Premis Natura i Societat de la Fundació Privada Girbau

El dissabte 6 de novembre es va dur a terme la 3a Edició dels Premis Natura i Societat que entrega bianualment la Fundació Privada Girbau. Aquests premis busquen reconèixer projectes d’àmbit cultural i de conservació de la natura ajudant-los a nivell promocional i econòmic.

Enguany, l’esdeveniment va tenir lloc a la sala del Casino Modernista de Vic, on s’hi van aplegar una vuitantena de persones, entre les quals hi destacaven diverses personalitats com el president del Consell Comarcal d’Osona, diversos regidors, el jurat dels premis, els responsables de la Fundació Privada Girbau, els responsables de la Xarxa de Conservació per la Natura, i d’altres destacats activistes i emprenedors que lluiten diàriament contra els problemes que comporta l’emergència climàtica.

L’acte va començar amb una breu presentació dels responsables de la fundació organitzadora del premis. La Fundació Girbau va destacar el gran nivell de tots els projectes realitzats i la gran dificultat d’escollir els premiats d’entre les 39 propostes presentades. També va posar èmfasi amb la gran necessitat de treballar per aconseguir un futur mediambientalment més sostenible i millor per les properes generacions. Posteriorment, es va procedir a fer l’entrega i una breu descripció dels guanyadors.

Destacar que el primer premi dotat amb 12.000€ el va rebre el Grup de Naturalistes d’Osona (GNO- ICHN) pel projecte “Creació d’una reserva de rapinyaires nocturns a la Plana de Vic”.

El segon premi en forma d’accèssit per valor de 6.000€, va ser lliurat al Col·lectiu Eixarcolant pel projecte “Creació d’un arborètum per la conservació i promoció del cultiu de varietats tradicionals de fruiters i altres llenyoses”.

Finalment el tercer i últim reconeixement de 1.000€, va ser entregat al projecte “Bicibús.cat” de l’Associació de Canvis en Cadena.

Tots el premiats van rebre el reconeixement de tota la sala i van encoratjar a les diferents administracions i agents a continuar apostant per projectes d’aquestes característiques.

Gràcies al premi obtingut, el Col·lectiu Eixarcolant destinarà íntegrament els 6.000€ aconseguits a iniciar la primera fase del projecte que hi van presentar, que s’iniciarà l’any 2022 a la comarca de l’Anoia.

L’entitat explica que l’arborètum serà un espai on s’hi plantaran petites quantitats de diferents arbres fruiters de varietats tradicionals per tal de poder conservar-les, caracteritzar-les i posar-les a disposició de la gent del territori.

Actualment a Catalunya, a diferència del que passa amb els bancs de llavors repartits pel principat, existeixen molt pocs arboretums destinats a la conservació i promoció de les varietats tradicionals de fruiters, de les quals a Catalunya es calcula que n’hi ha més de 3.000, la gran majoria en greu risc de desaparició.

Marc Talavera, doctor en biologia i president de l’entitat explica que “Amb aquest projecte farem els primers passos perquè varietats tant singulars com la poma roqueta, el préssec gavatx, la figuera de tres quarts, la pera closca de roure, la pruna colló de mico, o el codony d’olor, entre moltes d’altres puguin conservar-se, cultivar-se i consumir-se de nou. No només és un patrimoni cultural i gastronòmic. També són eines imprescindibles de resiliència al canvi climàtic, de sobirania alimentària, i de generació d’activitat econòmica local i veritablement sostenible.”

La necessitat de transformar el model agroalimentari actual del país i de preparar-lo pels canvis que vindran, comptarà a partir d’ara amb una nova eina. El futur arborètum de la Catalunya Central, ajudarà a fomentar un nou model d’agricultura a petita escala, d’alt valor afegit i resilient al canvi climàtic.

Albert Castells, responsable de comunicació de l’entitat afirma que “Desenvolupant aquest projecte, pretenem retornar el valor que mereixen a aquelles varietats d’arbres tradicionals i que els seus fruits han quedat molts cops fora dels circuits comercials habituals, i per tant, posar-les novament disposició de tothom.”

L’acte també va servir per captar l’atenció dels diferents actors com l’administració i d’alguns particulars que van ser els primers interessats en aquesta proposta replicable a d’altres indrets de Catalunya.
